Ruth E. Nielsen, 87, of Owatonna died Friday, September 26, 2008 at Cedarview Care Center. Ruth was born February 14, 1921 in Waseca the daughter of Melker and Sabina (Peterson) Nelson. There she was raised and attended school graduating from Waseca High School. She then attended Teacher's College and taught school in Deerfield Township. She was united in marriage to Lloyd O. Nielsen on September 1, 1948 at Vista Evangelical Covenant Church. They farmed near Medford until 1982 when they moved to Owatonna. Ruth loved flowers, gardening and making artistic needlepoint. She and her husband recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd of Owatonna; sister, Mildred Thorson of Owatonna and many nephews and nieces.
