Obituary

Salvatore Travaglio, 90, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at his daughter's residence in Ohio. Sal was born on April 3, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Michael and Anna (Datillo) Travaglio. He enlisted in the Army and served in both the Philippines and Hawaii in World War II and was a well decorated soldier in the artillery division. After returning from the War, he married the love of his life, Anna M. Mellio on September 18, 1949 at St. Columbkille church in Chicago, IL. They continued to live in Chicago, starting their family. They moved to Owatonna, Minnesota in 1959. Sal was a master machinist for Continental Can for over 45 years and retired in 1986. He loved to fish, hunt, travel and spend time with their many friends and family. Sal was proceeded in death by his wife, Anna; brother, Nicholas and granddaughter, Melody. Sal is survived by his children Michael Travaglio, of Owatonna, Carol (Dave) White of Beachwood, OH and Thomas (Cindy) Travaglio of St. Cloud, MN; his grandchildren, Salvatore, Kelly, Danielle, Dustin, Steven and Andrew; great grandchildren, whom he loved, Landon, Shaelyn. Braxton, Vincent, Jordyn, Jessa, and baby Wells on the way and his brother, Miachael. He gave us many happy memories, was a great father, grandfather and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 3:00-6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held December 1, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Deacon Pat Fagan officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:45 AM, Assembly Lane #3. Visitation: 12/01/2016 15:00 12/01/2016 18:00 Service: 12/01/2016 18:00
