Sandra Elaine Amundson, 78, of Faribault, MN formerly Kenyon, MN, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living in Faribault. She has resided in assisted care for the past three years. Sandra was born October 19, 1937 in Faribault, Minnesota to Elvin and Margaret (Belverud) Wickum. She attended Kenyon High School and married Donald J. Amundson in March of 1955. They made their home in West Concord where Donald built a home for them when he was a carpenter. In 1963, they bought the family dairy farm from Sandra's parents. They retired from farming in 1980 and moved to Faribault that year. They divorced in 1983. Sandra was a hard working farm wife and homemaker on the farm. After moving off the farm, she worked at Wilson Center, Shattuck-St. Mary's School and Northfield Hospital. She was a life time member of Holden Lutheran Church in Kenyon and a member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Sandra has always enjoyed the outdoors, her flower gardens, saving collectables, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and her beloved long time companion, Duane Wallin, loved bike riding, boating, antique shopping, and spending time together. Sandra is survived by her daughters, Debbie (and Patrick) Baldwin of Wichita, KA and Dawn (and Kevin) Buffington of Austin, TX; her son, Darvin (and Pam) Amundson of Kenyon; daughter-in-law, Sandi Amundson of Rosemount; twin sister, Sonja (and Glen) Meyers of North Port, FL; companion, Duane Wallin of Owatonna; nine grandchildren, Jason and Matt Amundson, Ryan (and Vanessa) Amundson, Quentin (and Cassandra) Amundson, Kayla Amundson, Rachael and Eleanor Baldwin, Daniel and Sara Buffington; six great grandchildren, Kiersten and Douglas Amundson, Brayton Meyer, Tyler Donald and William Amundson, and Tyler Jess Amundson. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Douglas Amundson; former husband, Donald Amundson; sister, Diane Pederson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Holden Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holden Lutheran Church, Kenyon with The Reverend Heather Culuris officiating. Interment will be in the Holden Lutheran Cemetery in Kenyon. Memorials are preferred to Holden Lutheran Church, Brookdale Senior Living of Faribault, or Faribault Area Hospice and Allina Hospice.
