Sandra L. Spinler, age 81, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 9, 1943, in Waseca, to the late Harold and Leona (Wolfe) Minske and was an only child. Sandra attended Morristown Schools until the sixth grade, when her family moved out to Colorado. Eventually, the Minske family moved back to the Owatonna area where Sandra attended and graduated from Owatonna High School.
Sandra would soon meet her future husband, Larry Spinler, through their friends' connections and they were married on February 1, 1964, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The couple would purchase their farm in 1967, move onto the farm in 1968, and that is where they would raise their three children. Sandra would help with the farm work as they had a livestock and grain farm and then in the later years converted the farm to organic. After their three kids were out of high school, Sandra went back to school and attended Mankato State University where she earned her Associate of Arts degree. After earning her degree, Sandra worked at nursing homes in Faribault and Owatonna as a recreational therapist for 20 years.
During her life, Sandra had many interests such as riding and breeding horses. She also had love for natural beauty as Sandra busied herself with photography, creating beaded jewelry, knitting, sewing her own clothing when she was first married. She enjoyed traveling to the North Shore looking for agates which was an extension of her fascination with rocks and would be considered a rockhound. Sandra was the secretary of the Steele County Rock and Gem Club. When she wasn't busy, Sandra was an avid reader, spending many hours exploring the pages of the books she read.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 61 years, Larry; their children: Brad (Tracie) Spinler of Morristown, Julie (Brian) Korth of Neenah, WI, and Kathy (Craig) Jones of Storm Lake, IA; grandchildren: Kristin (Justin) Krell of Blooming Prairie, Alex (Lacey) Spinler of Waseca, Mikayla Spinler of Manhatten, KS, Addison Hanusa of Neenah, WI, Grant Gasner and Ethan Gasner of Des Moines, IA; great-grandchildren: Leah, Kaylee, Emery, Bowen, Andi, and one on the way; brother-in-law, Larry Wencl; and sister-in-law, Deloris Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Marissa Spinler; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Darlene and Albert Liverseed, Mark Fisher, Joan and Lowell Hellevik, Don Spinler, and Phyllis Wencl.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morristown. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morristown with an additional visitation on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
