Scott Charles Borchardt, 57, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at home following a gallant fight with a genetic disease. He was born February 28, 1959 in Mankato, Minnesota the son of Marvin and Marilyn (Hassing) Borchardt. He grew up in Mankato where he attended school graduating from Mankato East High School in 1977. He continued his education at South Central Vocational School in Mankato and graduated in 1983. While working at McDonalds in Mankato, he met Nancy Johnson and the couple was married on June 6, 1981, at Aurora Lutheran Church. They made their home in Janesville where they lived for 28 years. In 2013, they moved to Owatonna. Scott worked at E.F. Johnson in Waseca which later became known as Itron where he was a quality assurance technician. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, dancing, loved 50's Rock and Roll, attending car shows and car cruises with friends. He was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake, MN. He is survived by wife of 35 years, Nancy of Owatonna: daughters Terra (Wayne) Harrington of St. Paul and Carissa Borchardt of San Francisco, CA; brother, Gary (Gwen) Borchardt of Eagle Lake; sisters, Pam (Richard) Braam of Mankato and Lisa (Brian) Mueller of Mankato and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents. A Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Aurora Lutheran Church in Havana Township with Pastor Stephanie Wood officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
