Obituary

Scott Stewart Umsted, 58, formerly of West Concord, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. He was born October 23, 1958 in Racine, Wisconsin the son of Forrest and Alta Karen (Stewart) Umsted. Scott graduated from Kasson High School and served in the US Air Force. Scott lived in London prior to moving back to Minnesota, settling in West Concord. In 2015 he moved to Pine Island and was planning a move to Rochester before becoming ill. Scott was the Auditor for Dodge County, city clerk for West Concord, dispatcher for Dodge County, Custom Alarm, and a driver for Rochester City Lines. He also worked during those careers as a substitute bus driver for Triton Schools and did foster care. Scott loved to travel and the people he met during his time driving charter bus. He was a member of the West Concord American Legion. He helped plan Swissfest at Zwingli Church for several years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Scott enjoyed helping people and loved spending time with his family. He loved to spend his days off with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Brittany (and Joe Eidem) Umsted of Zimmerman, Marc Umsted of Avon CO, Nathan (and Crystal) Nielsen of West Concord, David Nielsen of Wabasha, Jordan Nielsen of Mankato, Bridget Nielsen of Lake City; grandchildren, Parker Nielsen, Evelyn Eidem, Olivia Nielsen, Anna Nielsen; father, Forrest Umsted of Onalaska; sister, Teri (and Dave) Booth of LaCrescent; brother, Jim Umsted of Marion, NC and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel on Friday from 4pm to 7pm and at Faith Community Church on Saturday from 2pm to 3pm. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 3pm at Faith Community Church with Pastor David Breederland officiating.
