Obituary

Senora Croft, 91, of Owatonna, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Cedarview Care Center. Senora was born December 13, 1916 in Norway Township, Iowa the daughter of Andrew and Guri (Johnson) Holle. Senora attended a one room school through the eighth grade. After which she was employed as a maid. Senora and her family moved to Minnesota in 1940. She was united in marriage to Arthur Croft on March 24, 1942 at her parent's farm in Steele County. There they farmed and she was also employed at the Owatonna Canning Factory. Senora loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed playing cards at the senior center and played in the RSVP band with her husband traveling to area care centers playing for residents. She was active in Textiles at the county fair. She did alterations for people and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting and quilting. Her favorite was needlepoint. She learned how to spin wool on her grandmother's spinning wheel and went to surrounding schools to demonstrate how to make yarn. Art died on October 23, 1993. In 1996, Senora lost her eyesight as results of strokes. She still took pride in her sewing and handstiched over 100 quilts by hand all by feeling the material. She is survived by her nieces, Arlene Jorges of Anoka, Andrea Davis of Elk River, Gloria Adams of Albert Lea, nephews, Raymond Overland of Waseca, Brian Garness of New Richmond, WI; Bruce Garness of Shakopee, Don Overland of Minneapolis, Robert Zahnow of Coeur d'Alene, ID; Chris Garness in WI; Loren Garness of Superior, WI; a great niece, Molly Jorges of Anaheim, CA and several great nieces and nephews and special friends, Mike and Sharon Helmers of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sisters, Margaret and Lillian, brothers, Gilmer, Donald, Fred and nieces, Deloris and Carlene. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 12:00-1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held October 23, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
