Sergeant First Class Matthew Peterson (US Army, Retired) died unexpectedly of natural causes November 9, 2018 at his home in Colorado Springs, CO.
Matt was 46 years old and devoted his life to serving his country. Awarded the Bronze Star and many other service related commendations; he was deployed overseas six times in his 25 years of service. This included two tours in Iraq, as well as Korea, Panama, and Kosovo. Throughout these commitments, he continued to be a kind and generous brother and uncle who was beloved by his nieces and nephews.
Matt is survived by his mother, Sharon Peterson; brother, Mike (Melissa) Peterson and nephews, Ryan and Nolan; sister, Michelle Clark (Joel Brotherton) and nieces Nina and Tessa. Matt was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Peterson.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 4pm at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna with visitation one hour prior to the service. The service will be followed by a celebration of life reception at Matt's childhood home.
