Obituary

We are heartbroken to share after a difficult battle with thyroid cancer, Sharon Anderson passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Sharon was born on October 31, 1950, in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. In 1961, she moved with her family to Dodge Center, Minnesota, where she later graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1969. Following high school, Sharon attended cosmetology school in Rochester and began her career as a hairstylist in the Rochester area.

In August 1974, Sharon married Roger Anderson and together they settled in Blooming Prairie, MN, where they raised their two daughters, Christy and Michelle. Sharon continued working as a hairstylist until 1980, when she stayed home to raise her girls.

In 1987, Sharon began working at Blooming Prairie Elementary School, a job she truly loved. Over the years, she connected with countless children while serving in several roles, including lunch assistant, preschool classroom assistant and library assistant. Sharon retired from the school in 2010 after many years of dedicated service and countless meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families.

More than anything, Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and incredibly proud grandmother. Her happiest moments were spent cheering on her grandchildren at their many events and activities, always showing up with unwavering love and support. Whether it was a sporting event, school activity, performance, or simply time spent together, nothing brought Sharon more happiness than being surrounded by the people she loved most.

Sharon also had hometown pride and was one of the Blooming Prairie Blossoms’ biggest fans. Long after her own daughters had graduated, she could still regularly be found in the stands at local games and activities, enthusiastically supporting Blooming Prairie student athletes and her community.

During retirement, Sharon and Roger especially looked forward to their annual trips to their favorite resort in Brainerd, where many cherished memories were made fishing and sightseeing at Kavanaugh’s. Sharon also enjoyed tending to her garden, canning tomatoes for her famous homemade lasagna, and treating herself to monthly nail appointments at her favorite salon, L.A. Nails in Austin, MN.

Her final days were spent peacefully at home, surrounded by Roger and her daughters, with the compassionate support of St. Croix Hospice. Our family is deeply grateful to nurses Morgan and Samantha for their kindness, expertise, and unwavering care during this time.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband, Roger Anderson; daughters, Christy (Adrian) Anderson of Claremont, California, and Michelle (Mike) Frazier of Roseville; and her six cherished grandchildren, Eli Anderson, Adrik Anderson, Linnea Anderson, Luka Anderson, Eden Frazier, and Lyla Frazier.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, George Norman; her mother, Florence Norman; and many other beloved family members.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna from 4pm – 7 pm. A memorial service will take place at 10 am on Monday, May 18, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. Following the service, interment will be at Saint Ansgar Cemetery in Ellendale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice.
