Obituary

Sharon Ann Stark , 80, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born March 13, 1938 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Julius and Anna (Brocker) Stark. She grew up in Owatonna and graduated from Owatonna High School, Class of 1956. Sharon was an administrative assistant at the Owatonna Public Library for 37 years, retiring in 1993. She also worked as the Red Cross administrator for three years, an office assistant at Concept & Design, an administrative assistant at the Owatonna Arts Center for 13 years and part-time at Kottke Jewelry Store for 10 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna Elks Lodge 1395, Woman's Club of Owatonna where she served as president in 2000, Rotary Club where she served as secretary, Little Theatre of Owatonna (which she helped found) for 52 years, Festival of the Arts organizer for 22 years, Owatonna Arts Center for 44 years, and the Owatonna Public Library Foundation Board where she served as president. She also volunteered at the Steele County Free Fair Office for 56 years working with the open class entries and paying premiums to the winners and with the general public answering questions. Sharon was an avid reader, loved to travel with her friends, Linda McEnaney, Elizabeth Fell and LaVonne Amberg, enjoyed attending plays with friends at the Guthrie, Ordway, Orpheum and surrounding area theatres. She especially enjoyed sharing her treats with the staff at the Library, Fair Office, Kottke Jewelry or with anyone who stopped by or came for a meeting. A special "Thank You" to all of the friends who came to see her during this ride. She is survived by her cousins, Terry (and Nancy) Casperson of Owatonna, LaVonne Amberg of Owatonna, Merry (and Charles) Green of Abilene, TX, Cheryl (and Tim) Lane of Austin, TX, Carol (and Jim) Ebeling of Owatonna, Georgianne (and Joe) Brooks of Ellendale and Ken Casperson of Owatonna and numerous other cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Anna Stark. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Monday, May 7th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna with Pastor Jacie Richmond and Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Little Theatre of Owatonna, Owatonna Public Library Foundation, St. John Lutheran Foundation or Homestead Hospice House of Owatonna.
