Sheila Jean Benda, 60, of West Concord, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born May 3, 1965, in Owatonna, the daughter of Robert and Carol (Chelmo) Round. Growing up in West Concord, Sheila graduated from West Concord High School and attended the University of Minnesota Rochester location where she graduated with a degree in accounting. After graduation, she worked for Mayo Health Systems for four years in the accounts receivable department. During this time, Sheila married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Terry Benda, on June 1, 1985, at the West Concord Methodist Church. Together, they would purchase Sheila's grandmother's house in West Concord and grow their family with two sons, Joshua and Derek. After working a few accounting jobs, Sheila attended classes and became a Certified Nursing Assistant, settling in the environment of nursing homes and assisted living facilities until she had her stroke.

Sheila had a huge passion for fishing as she was always smiling while holding a fishing pole. The lake life was always important to her, whether it was visiting her parents' cabin on Cedar Lake, planning trips to Leech Lake, or watching her grandchildren play on the sandy beach of Lake Esquagama. Being outdoors was something Sheila loved as she enjoyed sitting on the deck, surrounded by the smell and beauty of Terry's flower garden or taking golf cart rides to get fresh air.

Family was a staple in Sheila's daily life. She loved hosting holidays, packing her house with family members. Sheila was an excellent cook, learning from her grandma and inheriting all of her cookbooks. She always enjoyed teaching her daughters-in-law, Rachel and Kayla, all her cooking tips and tricks.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Terry; sons, Joshua (Rachel) Benda and Derek (Kayla) Benda; grandchildren, Charlie, Khloe, and Kinzlie; her mother, Carol Round; her brother, Tony (Molly) Round and his children, Morgan and Brennen; and many siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Round and parents-in-law, Joseph and Barbara Benda.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Concord with Pastor Chad Christensen officiating. A visitation will be held from 1 pm until the time of service.
