Shelly Marie Swanson, 56, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born October 4, 1963 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Douglas and Audrey (Jacobson) Miller. She grew up in Denver, Colorado where she attended school, graduating from Mapleton High School in 1982. She worked with her family at the Holiday Inn in Aurora, Colorado. On November 28, 1987, she married Kerry Swanson in Colorado. The couple lived in Aurora until April of 1997, when they moved to Owatonna. Shelly dealt with health issues all her life. She received a kidney and pancreas transplant for which she was very grateful. She loved her family and was proud of her son and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Kerry Swanson of Owatonna; son, Chadd (and Katlyn) Swanson of Owatonna; mother, Audrey Osterberg of Owatonna; grandchildren Tanner and Skyler Swanson of Owatonna; brother, Douglas (and Beth) Miller of Idaho; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cindy (and Bob) McCarty of Denver, Cathy (and Kevin) Gilroy of Mesa, Richard (and Sheila) Swanson of Rock City, IL and David (and Annisa) Swanson of Davis Junction, IL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Miller; sister, Sheila Richards; brother, Gregory Miller and grandparents, Gerald and Marie Jacobson and Charles and May Miller. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
