Shirley LaVonne Baumgartner, 89, of Owatonna, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Mayo Hospital in Austin.
She was born on February 22, 1936, on the family farm in Richland Township, to Bennie and Augusta (Ista) Flom. She graduated from Medford High School in 1954. Shirley was united in marriage to Mr. Willard Dean Baumgartner on November 21, 1955, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. They were married for 46 years until his passing in 2001. Shirley worked on the family hobby farm and then later worked at Truth for over 20 years before retiring in 2001.
In her free time Shirley loved to bake, sew and embroider. In her later years she loved to travel to various states, but she loved to vacation down to Myrtle Beach, go on a cruise in Alaska, or fly to her favorite spot in Hawaii. You would also see her canning, camping at Macs Park Palace driving the golf cart around, and watching her favorite Hallmark movies. Most of all Shirley loved to spend quality time with her family whenever she could.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie of Kingman, AZ, Brenda (and John Albers) of Owatonna, Alden (and Ann) of Owatonna, Mark of Kingman, AZ, Danny Callalo, MO, Becky (and Rick Wicken) of Blooming Prairie, Todd (and Cindy) of Owatonna; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy, Eldora; brothers, Sam, Rodney (and Karen); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard; parents, Bennie Sr. and Augusta; siblings, Benita, Bennie Jr. and Kenny; and great-grandson Jacob Skaro II.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 1-3PM At Moland Lutheran Church with a Celebration of life service at 3PM.
