Shirley Ann Kubat (Peterson)
Born January 20, 1935 to Charley and Mary (Dutton) Peterson. Mom left this world to be with Jesus on May 29th, with family by her side, holding her hand.
Graduated from OHS in June of 1953 and only days later was married to Leo Kubat on June6, 1953.. Together they raised 7 children: Wayne (Marilyn) of Alaska, Anne Kubat (Bruce) of E. Bethel, MN, Alan, Ryan (Pam) of Owatonna, Rhonda Prestegard (Dale) of Rochester, Jarl (Mary) of AZ, and Jeff of Owatonna.
Mom was a devoted Wife and Mother and was as selfless and caring of a person as anyone you will ever meet. She made certain her children had a Christian upbringing. Getting 7 kids ready for church on Sunday and fitting them all into a 1949 single cab Chevy pickup, was no small task, in addition to all of her other responsibilities. She was also a devoted grandma to 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; with 2 more great grandchildren on the way. Mom read her bible and prayed for her family every day that she was able, and her family is grateful for that. She will be greatly missed by all.
Shirley was a longtime and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she volunteered regularly in her younger years. She enjoyed sewing circle and was an avid book reader. She and Leo loved square dancing, playing 500, and visiting with their children and grandchildren. Shirley volunteered at hospice and enjoyed spending time with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; brothers Jerry, Chuck, Stewart and Howie and her parents.
She is survived by her brother, Merle (Betty) Peterson of Rochester, and all of her children and their families.
Many thanks to all the caregivers of Faribault Senior Living, Brighton Hospice, and Alternative Resolutions for their tireless time and compassion in keeping her comfortable, safe and happy.
In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to Brighton Hospice, KLJY Radio, or Trinity Lutheran Church.
