Shirley Langemo, age 99, of Kenyon, died Saturday, August 5, 2017 at North Ridge Assisted Living in Kenyon. She was born September 24, 1917 in Taopi, Minnesota the second daughter of Ray and Kate (Pautvien) Mitchell. The family moved to South St. Paul and later to Kenyon in 1926. She graduated from Kenyon High School in 1935 and attended teacher's training in Kenyon. She taught country school at Roscoe for two years and then went to Mankato teacher's college, received a teaching degree and taught in Lafayette, MN. On August 29, 1942, she married Herman N. Langemo and the city girl began her life as a farm wife. The couple had two children, Barbara and Gregory. Always a teacher, she taught Sunday School, was a 4-H Leader and an FHA Advisor. She loved playing cards and games with her grandchildren where they learned their competitive spirit. Later she shared her artistic talents as Activities Director at the Kenyon Sunset Home. In 1982, Shirley and Herm retired and moved into Kenyon. She was a member of UMW, Senior Citizens, Chat & Chew Extension Club and various card clubs. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (and Tim) St. John of Kenyon; son, Greg (and Linda) Langemo of Kenyon; grandchildren, Jodi (Johannes), Jason (Shelby), Tesa, Jacob (Melanie), Steve, Jim (Mardell), Scot (Kim), Peter (Yasmine), Travis (Paula Germundson) and John (Sarah); great grandchildren, Stella, Mike, Alyssa (Shawn), Lindsey (Zack), Josh (Jessi), Evan (Amanda), Erin (Chris) Tanaeya, Marcus, Caleb, Sydney, Taylor, Regan and Morgan; great great grandchildren, Kylen and Chelsea (and one on the way) and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Kate; husband, Herman (June 16, 1994); grandson, Jason St. John; sister, June (Bill) Eikelberner; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marie & Roy Voxland, Peter & Inez Langemo, Amanda Langemo, Gerhard & Myrtle Langemo and Leona & Jim Fogal. A visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon on Friday, August 11 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and at church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held August 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church in Kenyon with Reverend Dana Houck officiating. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon.
