Shirley Irene Rundquist, 85, of Kasson, died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at her home. Shirley was born March 22, 1927 in Faribault, the daughter of Archie and Verna (Peasley) Olson. She graduated Valedictorian from Meridian High School in Kent, WA. She worked as a bucking riveter at Boeing Aircraft, WA. Shirley came to Minnesota in 1945 and worked in Rochester at Waters Conley. She then went to beauty school and opened her own shop in Wanamingo. Shirley and Gerald 'Did' Rundquist met at a dance and they later married on April 15, 1948. Shirley was active in many things including, teaching Sunday school and President of the Ladies Aid. She worked at the Yearbook in Owatonna, drug store, post office, corner store, The Motor Mart, and the Historical Society all of West Concord. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Senior Citizens and the Red Hat Club. Shirley put others before herself and helped as many people as she could. She was loved by many and claimed herself as a people person. She is survived by her children, Richard (and Jackie) Rundquist of Rochester, Joe (and JoAnn ) Rundquist of Faribault, Mary Jane (and Craig) Rundquist-Benda of Kasson; grandchildren, Brandon (and Jackie) Rundquist, Jason (and Laura) Benda, Cortnie Benda, Brooke (and Levi) Ranvek, Mallory (and Ben) Elwood, Danielle (and Michael) Carter, Jade Rundquist, Jordan Rundquist, Jenna Rundquist; great-grandchildren, Logan, Sadie, Parker Benda, Jaeger, Floyd Ranvek, Rosalind, Tyrnan Elwood, Xander, Estella Carter; three brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Jennifer Wilson, Dorothy Zelinskie, Lou Ann Waters. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Did; parents, son, Steven; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held February 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Chris Brekke officiating. Private family interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Memorials are preferred to donor''s choice.
