Stanley Parnell Neseth, 87, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Owatonna Commons. He was born February 2, 1923 in Kenyon, Minnesota the son of Nels and Ida (Hofdahl) Neseth. He was raised in Kenyon and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was trained as a pilot during WWII. After he was honorably discharged, he attended St. Olaf College where he graduated with a B.A. in Political Science, and met his future wife and love of his life, Vivian Lager. Stan and Vivian were married on December 27, 1952 in Nashwauk, MN, and began married life in Ames, IA. They moved the family to Owatonna in 1957. Stan was a career salesman working for several companies before finding his niche in lumber sales. He covered the southern Minnesota sales territory for several lumber companies before starting his own firm, Southern Minnesota Lumber Sales, where he worked until retirement. Stan was an avid golfer and hunter. He was a long time member of Kenyon Country Club and was twice a club champion. He also loved pheasant and duck hunting with his friends and family. He enjoyed following the Vikings and Twins. He was proud of his family and his Norwegian heritage. Survivors include his wife, Vivian, three daughters, Kirsten Blazek of Boynton Beach, FL, Karen Hickey of Lawrence, KS, and Katherine (Dan) Jonas of Minneapolis; two sons Steven (Ellen) Neseth of Stillwater, and Paul (Barb Hahn) Neseth of Minneapolis; fourteen grandchildren Kevin Blazek, Benjamin Wright, Eric Neseth, Solveig Neseth, Kirsten Hickey, Nathan Hickey, Sarah Hickey, Siri Neseth, Paavo Neseth, Brianna Jonas, Nicholas Jonas, Megan Jonas, Greta Jonas, and Bjorn Jonas; two great grandchildren Kyra and Kayleigh; and three nieces and one nephew. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lloyd, sister, Irene Hawley, and her husband Joseph Hawley, and his nephew, Thomas Hawley. Memorial service will be held Tuesday July 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend John Lestock officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial and military honors will be held in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church.
