Steven 'Chip' Block, 65, of Owatonna, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 in his home. Chip was born February 26, 1945 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Edward and Deloris (Deck) Block. Here he was raised and attended school graduating from Owatonna High School in 1963. Chip then attended vocational school in Alexandria. He returned to Owatonna and began working at Owatonna Public Utilities. He then began a 35 year career with Northern Natural Gas. Chip retired at the age of 55 and was able to enjoy many things including spending summer months at the lake in Spicer, hunting, fishing and boating. Chip was very easy going and was never judgmental. He loved his family very much and will be dearly missed by his family and all that called him friend. In the past eight years of Chip's life, he built a special relationship with Jenny Petersen. He is survived by two sons, Troy (and Rachel) Block of Spicer; Kory (and Brandye) Casler of Hurst; TX; his parents, Edward and Deloris Block of Owatonna; two brothers, Rod (and Judy) Block of Owatonna; and Todd (and Mary) Block of St Peter; a special friend and partner, Jenny Petersen of Owatonna; nephews and nieces, Tami (and Scott) Roberts; Craig (and Melissa) Block; Cassandra, Chad and Mariah Block. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, February 14, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating.
