Obituary

Sue Ann Wencl, 76, of Owatonna, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

She was born on March 25, 1947 in Sleepy Eye, grew up in White Bear Lake and graduated from White Bear Lake High School as a member of the 1965 class. During Sue's teen years she worked at the diner that her parents owned. After high school, Sue worked at the Owatonna Tool Company. She moved to Warsaw where she met Robert Wencl at an auction. Sue and Robert were married at the Little Brown Church in Iowa on August 27, 1977. She then began working on the dairy farm with Robert for many years. Robert and Sue were blessed with two children together Patti and Louis.

Sue loved crafting jewelry for the farmers market and making all of her children's Halloween costumes. She was very busy with women's bowling league, helping with events with the Eagles Auxiliary, playing Bar Bingo, and Sue and Robert would manage the ADA Malt Stand during the fair. Robert and Sue were awarded the Century Farm Award in 2014, and the Mr. and Mrs. Eagle of the Year award together.

Sue will be remembered as a person who would always volunteer, being caring to all her friends and family, and never being able to say no to anyone that needs help. Most of all Sue will be remembered as a loving wife, and a caring mother and grandmother.

She is survived by husband Robert L Wencl of Owatonna; daughter, Patti (and Ryan) Keller of Owatonna; son, Louis (and Melissa) Wencl of Owatonna; grandchildren, Kerryn and Kaden Keller, and Grant, Braylen, and Kayla Wencl; nieces Mandy (and Sal) Pusateri, Tami Blegseth, Ellen Herrley, Ashley Blegseth and Samantha McCollum; nephews, Billy Jo Clarin, Eddie King and Chris King; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill King; sisters, Roberta Clarin and Bonnie Blegseth.
