Obituary

Susan (Quaintance) Sanchez age 68 of Dodge Center died Tuesday, August 25 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew her. Susan (Sue) was born on December 15, 1946 in Hartley, Iowa to Oren and Alice Quaintance. Her family later moved to Minnesota. She graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1965. She married Jose (Tony) Sanchez on September 30, 1972. Susan retired from Federated Insurance in 2002 after 25+ years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching Wheel of Fortune, Twins Baseball, playing Sudoku, having her nails done, vacations by the lake, bonfires and trips to Texas to visit family. She was known for her cooking, baking, and sewing skills. She enjoyed making and sending cards and the monthly Snack and Yack sessions with friends and relatives at her cousin Marlene's. She enjoyed decorating for all holidays and her favorites were Christmas and Easter. She could never turn down her favorite foods; steak, ice cream and chocolates. She had a beautiful smile, elegant hand writing and was a jokester at heart. She is survived by her husband Tony, daughters, April (Mark) Hafstad and their children Kelsey (Aaron Heim) their daughter Violet, Chase and Colton of Owatonna; Laura Burgdorf (Jeremy Young) and their children, Chaz, Brody and Lyla of Albert Lea; her son Jose (Cristine Boedecker) and their children, Jasmynn, Cody, Michaela, Kiley, Lainy and Paige of Owatonna; sisters, Ruth Duesterhoeft of Northfield, Barb Yerhart of Keokuk, IA; Pat Quaintance of Owatonna, Lorna (Bob) Kidder of Owatonna, Norma (David) Hafstad of Ellendale, Kandy (Scott) Johnson of Owatonna; brothers, Roger (Rebecca) Quaintance of Owatonna, John (Doreen) Quaintance of Owatonna; sisters-in-law, Mary Perez of Blooming Prairie, Sandy Coughlin of Dodge Center, Lupe (Glen) Hoheisel of Blooming Prairie; brother-in-law, Juan (Celia) Sanchez of Owatonna, Glen Sanchez of Rochester, George Townley of Owatonna and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother Delbert Quaintance, sister Mary Townley, several brothers-in-law and recently her beloved dog Wiggles. A private family service will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday August 28, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna.
