Susan Marie Terpstra,74, of Owatonna, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at her home with family by her side.

She was born on June 8, 1952, in Crookston, to Lloyd and Helen (Gust) Bruley. Susan grew up in Crookston and graduated from Crookston High School in 1970. She then worked at Roberts Restaurant and also on the family dairy farm. Susan met Michael Terpstra while he was attending college in Crookston and they were united in marriage on July 14, 1973, at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Gentilly. They were blessed with four children, Shawn, Chad, Jason, and Angie. The couple then moved to southern Minnesota before moving various places in Michigan for Mike’s work, before ultimately settling down on a farm in Owatonna.

Sue worked at Truth Hardware 22 years before retiring. You could also see her with a word search in her hand, or coloring with her numerous boxes of colored pencils. Ultimately, she loved and adored her nine grandchildren and cherished every moment that she had with each one of them.

She is survived by her husband Mike Terpstra; her children, Shawn (and Sarah) Terpstra, Chad Terpstra, Jason Terpstra, and Angie Terpstra; nine grandchildren; siblings, Jeanne Fitchorn, Cindy Veitch, Greg Bruley, Danny Bruley, Maureen Novak, Laurie Bruley, Jeff Bruley, and Stefanie Hanson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Helen Bruley and her sister Kim Bruley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with a visitation starting one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna.
