Obituary

Suzette was born on April 11, 1951, in Austin, Minnesota to her father John Skalisky and mother Deloris Skalisky (Placek). She grew up on the family farm in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota and later moved to Owatonna, Minnesota with her sister Annette and brother Michael. From those beginnings, after graduating from Owatonna High School in 1969, she built a life full of love, resilience, and connection-a life that eventually brought her to California in search of a fresh start.

Suzette worked at Winchel's Donuts on 2nd Street in El Cajon and it was there that she met the love of her life, our dad, Werner. Werner frequented the donut shop in the early mornings before heading to his job site. Our mother told us the story of how he loved her long hair and full eyebrows.

This sweet story of meeting at a donut shop would become a story of lasting love.

After getting married on August 17, 1976, Suzette and Werner had three children John, Laura, and Daniel. They eventually built their dream home on the West End of Ramona with a beautiful garden and a swing set for the kids.

Suzette and Werner were married for 42 years, building a life, a family, and a partnership that endured until Werner's passing in 2019. And if there's one comforting thought we hold onto now, it's that they are together again in heaven-probably out on a dance floor somewhere, just like they always loved.

Suzette Fisher passed away on March 18, 2026 in her home, surrounded by her children. She is survived by her children-John (Megan), Laura, and Daniel (Jennifer)--and her seven grandchildren, Abraham, Deacon, October, Winter, Autumn, Samuel, and Adalyn, who brought her so much joy. She also left her mother Deloris, her brother Michael (Dora), and her sister Annette. She loved them deeply, and she was proud of each and every one of them. That love is something that doesn't fade. Her love for her family and friends stays with all of us.
