Syd J. Hanson, 24, of Lake Crystal, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Syd Joseph Hanson was born June 5, 1992 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Todd and Maria (Guerriero) Hanson. He grew up in Medford where he attended school graduating with the Class of 2010. Syd continued his education at Mankato State University and graduated in 2014 with a Psychology degree. He was employed at FLS in Mankato and currently at Verizon Wireless in tech support. Syd enjoyed biking, playing video games, cooking, playing Frisbee golf, collecting guns and was an avid Vikings fan. His sense of humor and his teasing nature enabled him to make people laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed cats. Syd's last act of kindness and generosity was being an organ donor. He would be happy to know his death made a difference in the life of others. He is survived by parents, Todd and Maria Hanson of Owatonna; sister, Raven Hanson of Owatonna; half sister, Angela Huddleston of Texas; grandparents, Phil and Barb Hanson of West Concord and Josephine Guerriero of Newburgh, NY; aunt and uncles, Teri (Matt) McIntire of Dodge Center, Curt Hanson of Menasha, WI and Nunzio Guerriero of Newburgh, NY; cousins, Jessica, Matthew Caleb, Dominic and Vincent and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Filomeno Guerriero; great grandmother, June Baldridge and aunt, Carla Saas. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna with Reverend David Breederland officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. Memorials are preferred to Compassionate Friends, www.compassionatefriends.org .
