Theodora Teddy F. Jirele, 90, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Traditions II in Owatonna. Teddy was born on March 5, 1926, in Steele County, Minnesota the daughter of Stanley and Anna (Kubicek) Spinler. She grew up on a farm in Summit Township and attended country school through the eighth grade. She worked at Jostens in Owatonna and in 1977 began working at Spurgeons Department Store in Owatonna. Teddy was united in marriage to Joseph E. Jirele, Jr. on September 3, 1946, at Holy Trinity Church in Litomysl, Minnesota. The couple made their home on a farm in Somerset Township where they farmed and raised their five children. Teddy enjoyed baking filled biscuits (buchty), crocheting, sewing quilts, playing cards, dancing, fishing, reading and especially spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Jean (Don) Kiefer of Medford; David (Cheri) Jirele of Geneseo, IL, Kenneth (Geri) Jirele of Glenwood, IA, Linda Brandt of Owatonna, Julie Pelinka of Owatonna; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Jirele (1/4/2000); son-in-law, David Brandt; three brothers and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 1, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna, with Father John Sauer officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Litomysl. Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday, June 30th at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna and at church one hour prior to the service.
