Obituary

Theodore (Ted) S. Breiner, 86, of Owatonna died April 11, 2010 at Owatonna Commons. He was born December 29, 1923 on the family homestead near Sheilds, North Dakota, the son of Joseph and Anne Josephine (Goudreau) Breiner. Ted attended high school in Shields, N.D. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served as a flight engineer on a B-24 and flew bombing missions from Italy during World War II. There he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. While attending the University of Minnesota he met his wife, Adrienne. They were married on June 14, 1952 in Alexandria, MN. Ted was an accountant at Federated Insurance for 38 years. He was an avid golfer and played at the Owatonna Country Club for many years. He enjoyed both downhill and cross country skiing and liked to putter with woodworking projects around his house. He and his wife spent many vacations traveling abroad. He especially enjoyed the companionship of his dogs. Ted was a member of the Owatonna Elks and the American Legion, and served as treasurer of the United Way Board for a number of years. Ted is survived by his wife Adrienne; daughters Teresa (Dave) Jordahl of Estacada, OR and Jennifer (Ed) Ryan of St. Paul, MN; eight grandchildren, one brother, Paul Breiner, of Milwaukee, WI; and one sister Marie Breiner of Kansas City, MO and several nieces and nephews. His parents and one brother preceded him in death. Memorial service will be held Saturday April 17, 2010 at 1PM at Associated Church with the Reverend James Oberg officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-6 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens Cemetery with honors provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Steele County Humane Society, Mayo Foundation 200 First St SW Rochester, MN 55902, Associated Church, or to the Donor''s Choice.
