Theodore Joseph Staley, 87, of Owatonna, died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Koda Living Community.
He was born April 26, 1932 in Owatonna the son of George and Anna (Skalicky) Staley. Ted attended country school near Steele Center. As a young man, Ted worked for his dad's garbage hauling business before working at the Owatonna Canning Company. While working at the canning company, Ted also served as the Chief of Police in Medford. He then worked for Owatonna Tool Company until retirement.
Ted was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Medford and the Steele County Civil Defense. He volunteered with the Sheriff Posse and the Steele County Free Fair. Ted enjoyed watching and participating in auto racing, was an avid fan of NASCAR, Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings and loved building model cars. He also enjoyed fishing and making wood crafts. Ted's grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Staley of Owatonna; children, Patricia (and Jerry) Hanson of Waseca, Darrell (and Jayne) Staley of Alexandria, Craig (and Bruce Cox) Staley of Irving, TX, Sheila (and Wesley) Lund of Farmington, Debra (and Perry) Kytola of Owatonna; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Harriet (and Robert) Daiker of Perham and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend John Sauer officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Litomysl. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to KODA Foundation for the bus purchase or to the donor's choice.
