Obituary

Thomas Steven Felber, 72, of Owatonna, died unexpectedly Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home in Owatonna. He was born July 17, 1940 in Fairmont, Minnesota, the son of Lloyd and Effie (Larsen) Felber. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1958. He attended St. Olaf College then Mankato State University where he graduated with a degree in art education and business. He married Nancy Stanton on August 8, 1964 at the United Church of Mapleton in Mapleton, Minnesota. They made their home in Pepin, Wisconsin. Tom taught art and coached basketball and track in Pepin for three years, Truman, Minnesota for two years and from 1969 to 1989 in Byron, Minnesota for twenty years. Tom retired and in 1989 they moved to Owatonna. Tom continued his part time business of antiques, collectibles, cars, parts, and advertisement signage. He was a member of the MEA, NEA, MSRA, NSRA, and V8 Ford Club. He enjoyed vacationing in the Duluth area, fishing, hunting, war movies and westerns. He also loved 50''s and 60''s music. Tom''s greatest pride and joy was his family. His son, Mark excelled at basketball due to his coaching. Tom would include his family in his enthusiasm for cars and sports. He would also continue to follow his former students and families while making everyone feel special. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Felber of Owatonna; son, Mark (and Kara) Felber of Cedar Rapids, IA; two grandchildren, Quinn and Maclain Felber; mother-in-law, Lorraine Stanton of Mapleton; sisters-in-law, Barbara (and Kenneth) Schutt of Winnebago, and Bonnie Stanton of Mankato; brothers-in-law, Bruce (and Karen) Stanton of Mapleton , and Mike Latourelle of Hastings; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Effie Felber, father-in-law, Archie Stanton, sister-in-law, Susan Stanton Latourelle, and brother-in-law, Rick Mathwig. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church on Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, 1500 18th St. SE, Owatonna, MN 55060 with the Reverend Brian Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Sterling Cemetery in rural Mapleton at 3:00 PM on Thursday.
