Obituary

Thomas 'Tom' Henning Hill, 82, of Medford, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Tom was born November 24, 1929 on the family farm near Farmington, Minnesota the son of John and Agnes (Andersen) Hill. There he was raised and attended school. He was drafted into the United States Marine Corps in November of 1950 and served during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge in 1952, Tom lived in Texas where he married Carol F. Waggoner on August 26, 1952. From this union seven children were born from 1953 through 1964. In 1953 they moved to the Twin Cities area where Tom worked as a building contractor. In 1960 the family moved to Medford Township where he began farming. Tom eventually became a real estate broker specializing in farmland real estate. Tom married Elaine Hope in January 2000. The couple continued making their home in rural Medford where Tom farmed until the time of his death. Family and farming was his true passion. He also enjoyed refurbishing cars back to original condition and building, inventing or fabricating just about anything in metal or wood. He was an entrepreneur, a pilot, and loved flying. His work was his play. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Hill of Medford; his children, Marie (and Kevin) Gallagher of Owatonna; Mike (and Diane) Hill of Bellingham, WA; Teresa (and Keith) Barnett of Conroe, TX; Bruce Hill of Viroqua, WI; John Hill of Ashland, OR; and Christie (and Stan) Cook of Nacogdoches, TX. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Kelly of Tallahassee, FL; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Connie McBurney and two brothers, John Hill and James 'Jim' Hill. There will be a time for friends and family to gather at the Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. A celebration of Tom''s life will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 12 at Michaelson Funeral Home with the Reverend Greg Schlicker officiating.
