Obituary

Thomas Red J. Meyer, 51, of Kenyon, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the family farm in rural Kenyon. He was born February 11, 1962 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of James and Genevieve (Strouth) Meyer. He graduated Kenyon High School in 1980. He attended Faribault Area Vocational Institute and received a degree in Building Construction. Tom worked at Foldcraft in Kenyon, McQuay in Faribault and was a long time employee at Bridgewater Tree Farms in Northfield. Tom was a member of the Sportsman''s Club in Kenyon. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking, especially anything on the grill. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and loved to watch sports. Tom also watched many westerns with John Wayne and read many Louis L''Amour books and enjoyed saying Howdy and No Problem. He is survived by three siblings, James (and Elaine) Meyer of Omaha, NE, Donna Wenkel of North Mankato, and Richard (and Pamela) Meyer of Warsaw; nieces and nephews, Brian (and fiance, Kelly) Meyer, Valerie (and Aric) Sedlacek, Laura (and Patrick) Landkamer, Patrick (and fiance, Aurelie) Wenkel, Elizabeth (and Charles) Wendler, and Jeanine Meyer; great nieces and nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Larry Wenkel. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Monday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kenyon with The Reverend Kevin Finnegan officiating. Interment will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation: 02/16/2014 16:00 02/16/2014 18:00 Service: one hour prior to the service at the church 02/17/2014 00:00
