Thomas P. Nordquist, 83, of Owatonna, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Cedarview Care Center. Thomas was born August 3, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Cliff and Florence (Smith) Nordquist. He attended Minneapolis Vocational High School and two years at the University of Bethesda, Maryland. Thomas enlisted into the United States Navy in 1943 and served until 1946 during WWII. He then reinlisted in 1949 and served until 1953. Following his honorable discharge, he moved back to Minnesota and was united in marriage to Joan Gwin on December 30, 1955. They made their home in Owatonna and here he worked for Dictaphone and was a self employed furniture refinisher since 1975. He enjoyed working with stain glass, woodworking, reading, photography and storytelling. He was a member of Our Savior''s Lutheran Church, the Steele County Historical Society, past member of Kiwanis Golden 'K' Club and the American Legion. Tom volunteered for 500 plus hours at the Heritage Halls Museum and involved with Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by his wife Joan of Owatonna, two sons Timothy (and Leah) of Eden Prairie; Andrew (and Debra) of Faribault, a daughter, Marilyn (and Daniel) Main of Maidstone, Kent, England, a son-in-law, Randall Naae of Bloomington, two brothers, Jerome of Jeanette, PA; Richard (and Rita) of Lino Lakes. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel, Thomas, Brian, Jonathan, Richard, Christian, Jennifer, Joshua and Rebecca and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel, his parents, his step-father, Alfred Tromsness and sister-in-laws, Diane and Sylvia. Visitation will be on Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church one hour prior to the service. Memorial service will be held Saturday October 18, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Ron Gilthvedt officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Our Saviors Lutheran Church piano fund or Steele County History Center. Arrangements are with the Michaelson Funeral Home.
