Timothy John Grubish, 58, died of a heart attack Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at his home in Owatonna.
He was born October 14, 1961 in Owatonna, MN, the son of Wayne and Donna (Fritze) Grubish. He grew up in Owatonna and graduated from Owatonna High School with the Class of 1980. Tim attended Mankato State University before joining the United States Army. Following his Honorable Discharge, he enrolled at San Jose State University and graduated with a degree in Accounting. He began his career in San Jose, later moving to Las Vegas, where he met his true love Margie Bitonio in 2001. Always a prankster, Tim married Margie on October 31, 2004 in Las Vegas. In lieu of a wedding reception, the newlyweds celebrated by taking their son Augie trick-or-treating around their neighborhood. The couple and their son moved to Owatonna in December 2004, where they later welcomed their daughter to the family in 2007.
Tim was an avid golfer, and his favorite place in the world was Pebble Beach and the surrounding Monterey Bay area. He was a life-long fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Tim was an accomplished bowler, enjoyed music and attending concerts, was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. His most cherished time was that spent with his precious children and taking road trips with his family. His kids were truly the apples of his eye.
Tim is survived by his wife, Margie of Owatonna; children, Amanda Meintz of Duluth, Augie Grubish and Anela Grubish, both of Owatonna; parents, Wayne and Donna Grubish of Owatonna; siblings, Lisa (Randy) Richmond of Owatonna, Pete (Tootie) Grubish of Owatonna, Lori (Scott) Oeltjenbruns of Johnston, IA, Steve (Samona) Grubish of Owatonna and Jennifer VanWyk of Plymouth; in-laws, Edwardo and Virginia Bitonio of Honolulu; brother-in-law, Regie Bitonio of Honolulu and numerous nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilfred and Irene Grubish and William and Margaret Fritze.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
A gathering celebrating Tim's life will be announced at a later date.
