Todd E. Karaus , 50, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his residence at Cedardale Homes in Owatonna. Todd was born Sept 29, 1965 in Owatonna to Eugene and Ethel (Standke) Karaus. He is survived by five sisters and one brother: Becky (Pat) Wilks of Vacaville CA, Pam Hagan of Ankey IA, Barb (Bob) Weinmann of Laporte MN, Naomi Karaus of Plano TX, Lori (Tom) Payne of Seattle WA, and Scott (Scott Salmins) Karaus of St Louis Park MN. Todd attended Owatonna High School and worked at Cedar Valley Services in Owatonna. Todd was one of the first residents of the then Rainbow Home which is now Cedardale Homes. He resided there for 34 years receiving top rate care by the wonderful staff that dearly loved him. As his illness progressed, it was harder for him to verbally communicate but the angels (staff) knew him so well that they knew his wants and needs. They kept him comfortable and made him smile and laugh. He always liked a good prank. Todd was an avid Viking fan and was even able to attend a game and visit the training camp. He enjoyed watching television and had a large collection of movies (he liked the scary ones), he enjoyed humor and animation and loved dogs as they always made him smile. Todd also enjoyed a few big vacations, going to Disney Land and Hawaii. Todd suffered his whole life with cerebral palsy and each year things became a little more difficult for him. However, he was always able to listen and understand others. He liked having visitors and always had a smile for them. Todd lived a life of humble dignity, never complained and always maintained a wonderful sense of humor. Todd will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and relatives, including his family at Cedardale Homes, Allina Hospice, Cedar Valley Services, and everyone that has ever worked with him. He was preceded in death by parents. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna with Deacon Pat Fagan officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
