Vaughn Fredrick Kispert, 87, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Owatonna Hospital. He was born January 23, 1932 in Nerstrand the son of Carl and Ruth (Ress) Kispert and raised by his dad and step mom, Martha (Heath) Kispert. Vaughn was active in wrestling and football at Faribault High School graduating with the class of 1951. He then served in the US Army from June 1951 to September of 1952. On October 9, 1954 he married Jeanette Houglum at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford. Since their marriage, the couple has lived in Owatonna where they raised their five children. Vaughn worked for Jostens for over 25 years before attending machine and die school in Faribault. He then worked for FMC in Minneapolis and later Cybex. Vaughn retired from Cybex. Vaughn was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a long time member of the American Legion. He loved to golf and was an avid fan of all Minnesota sports teams. Along with his wife, he traveled the entire Route 66 in his Mustang convertible. Vaughn and Jeanette took great pride in raising their granddaughters, Sarah and Ashley. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Kispert of Owatonna; son, Tom Kispert of Cleveland; daughters, Julia (and Anthony) Hessom of Poway, CA, Carolyn (and Mark Bender) Barrett of San Diego, CA, Janice Coulombe of Owatonna; grandchildren, Tyler Kispert, Casey (and Kennedy) Kispert, Caron (and Andrew Fischer) Kispert, Cayla Hessom, Derek Hessom, Ellyria Barrett, Calvin Barrett, Sarah Coulombe, Ashley Coulombe; great grandchildren, Baron Kispert, Logan Fischer; brothers, Eugene Kispert, Karle (and Brenda) Kispert; sisters, Joan (and Jon) Glarner, Nancy Fait, Judith Henry, Lillian Sherman, Darlene Kalow and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Kispert; son-in-laws, Stephen Barrett, Chris Coulombe and six sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10:30am at Redeemer Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
