Verna Prins, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Verna was born on May 29, 1935, on a farm near Moulton, Iowa to Otto and Ethel (Mathern) Clark, as one of eight children. Verna lived in Iowa until she was in fourth grade and the family moved to Worthington, MN, where she finished her schooling. On October 29,1953 she married the love of her life, Harry Prins in Worthington, and they raised five wonderful children, moving to the Owatonna area in 1960. Harry preceded her in death on October 2, 2001. Verna worked a variety of jobs including Robbies Restaurant, the Kasper Farm, Owatonna Tool Company for many years and Gone Beading.

Verna's biggest joy in life was spending time with family including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she was so proud of. Crafting was a favorite pastime, as was visiting with her many friends and neighbors over coffee and crafting. Taking bus trips to various locations was also something that brought many smiles to her.

Verna will forever be missed by her five children, Stanley (and Debra) Prins of Owatonna, Norm (and Sue) Prins of Garrison, David (and Nancy) Prins of Hayfield, Marty (and Karla) Prins of Morristown; son in law, Jay Anderson of Owatonna; seven grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Prins, Nick (Emily) Prins, Amber (Jesse) Smith, Scott (Laura) Prins, Katie (Shay) Nold, Zach (Kayla) Prins and Nikki (Johnathan) Manges; 20 great-grandchildren, Parker, Hailey, Hunter, Harvey, Kaydence, Lucas, Hadley, Hayden, Glenn, Lary, Sammantha, Braiden, Kaleb, Elijah, Isaiah, Kylee, Emma, Maddux, Everleigh, and Rhett. Verna is also survived by two sisters, Lois (Ray) Sehr of New Ulm, and Virginia (Dave) Norgaarden of Rochester and very special friends, Sonya Arndt and Lynee Curit.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Prins; daughter, Donna Anderson; great-granddaughter, Kollyns Prins; parents, Otto (and Ethel) Clark; parents-in-law Henry and Jennie Prins; three sisters, Catherine, Colleen, and Mary Jo, and two brothers, Jim and Jack.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna following the service.
