Verne W. Lyman, 79, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2014 at his home. Verne was born July 20, 1934 in rural Randolph, Minnesota, the son of Warren and Pearl (Olson) Lyman. He was a 1952 graduate of Northfield High School. After graduation Verne served in the United States Army from January 22, 1954 to January 5, 1956. During his service he married Helen Fischer on November 26, 1955 in Ansbach, Germany. The couple moved to Owatonna from Nerstrand in 1965. He owned and operated Farm and Home in Owatonna until 1982. He later worked for various real-estate companies in Owatonna until he retired in 1995. He enjoyed collecting antique cars, bird watching, going on fishing trips and above all else, spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Helen and their children Randy (Heidi) Lyman, Renee (Larry) Kuyper, Rhonda (Clay) Bulow, Robin (Todd) Luthe; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; brother, Duane (Bobbye) Lyman and sisters, LaVonne (Burton) Robinson, Lois (Forrest) Kispert. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home Tuesday February 4, 2014 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM and one hour prior at the church. Memorial services will be held at 10:30AM Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with The Reverend Mark Rosenau officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
