Maria "Vicky" Victoria Martinez, 54, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at University of Minnesota Medical Center following a courageous fight against leukemia.

She was born December 24, 1968 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico the daughter of Pedro and Maria (Puga) Martinez. She grew up in Piedras Negras, Coahuila and attended school through the eighth grade. She met Ruben Carreon in 1992 and in 2000 the couple moved to Owatonna, Minnesota to raise their family.

Maria was primarily a homemaker, raising her two daughters but also worked outside the home at Lakeside Foods as a seasonal worker.

She was very family oriented and cherished her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed taking long walks in the evening, spending time with family, baking with her granddaughter and enjoyed every holiday, especially Christmas.

She is survived by her husband, Ruben of Owatonna; daughters, Denisse Carreon (Mauricio Silva) of Owatonna and Zuzet Carreon of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Genesis Silva, Camila Silva and Mateo Silva; father, Pedro Martinez of Texas, siblings, Alejandra Negrete of Eagle Pass, TX, Yolanda Arellano of Eagle Pass, TX, Pedro Martinez Jr. of Coahuila, Mexico, Juan Martinez of San Antonio, TX, Miguel Angel Martinez of San Antonio, TX and Claudia Martinez of Coahuila, Mexico.

She was preceded in death by mother, Maria Puga and brother, Alfonso Sanchez Martinez.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Friday, June 17th from 3:00 - 6:00 PM and at Iglesia Linaje Escogido on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Iglesia Linaje Escogido in Owatonna with Pastor Jose Esquivel officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
