Victor H. Greier, 83, of Owatonna, died Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Owatonna Hospital. Vic was born April 29, 1930, in Granada, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Lilian (Mausling) Greier. He attended parochial schools in Martin and Watonwan counties in Minnesota for grades 1st through 6th. He graduated from Truman High School in 1948. Later that year Vic entered the United States Navy and spent most of his tour of duty in the Mediterranean. He received his honorable discharge in 1952. He was united in marriage to Louise Ewy on June 13, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville, Minnesota. He graduated from Mankato State College with a degree in Mathematics Education in 1958. He then taught and coached two years in Braham, Minnesota, before coming to Owatonna in 1960. Here he taught both senior high and junior high math until his retirement in 1991. Vic was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. After retirement he worked part time for the Michaelson Funeral Home. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and working with stained glass. He spent twenty years officiating high school athletics. Vic always enjoyed breakfast with his friends at The Kitchen. He is survived by his brother LeRoy (and Ruth) Greier of Lewisville; sister Lucille Zarling of Fairmont; four sisters-in-law Shirley (and Roy) Trullinger of Hanover; Audrey Rieger of New Ulm; Patricia (and Fred) Valdez of Denver, CO; Mabel Ewy; special friend Janell Salcedo of Owatonna; and nieces & nephews He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Greier in 2009; brothers-in-law Cliff Zarling; Melvin Ewy; Quentin Rieger; Jeff Aguirre and his parents. Visitation will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 3, 2013. A Celebration of Life for Victor Greier will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
