Obituary

Victor A. Kubicek, 102, of Owatonna, died Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House. Victor was born March 10, 1909 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Frank and Frances (Blazek) Kubicek. He was raised near Owatonna and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1928. After high school he lived in Canada and worked on his uncle''s farm before returning to Owatonna where he worked in the Owatonna Nursery from 1930 to 1936. He then worked on area farms from 1937-1942. He entered the US Army Air Force on June 12, 1942 and served during WWII. He received his honorable discharge October 28, 1945 and returned to Owatonna. He worked as an auto mechanic at Lindekuegel Chevrolet from 1945 until his retirement in 1971. He resided at Westside Board and Lodge Homes for the past 20 years. Victor enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports. He is survived by four nephews, Jim Krahulick of St. Louis, MO; Donald Wilkie of Bloomington; Delmar Wilkie of Austin; and Dick (and Sharon) Wilkie of Las Vegas, NV; and great nephews and nieces. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 9, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Westside Board and Lodge Homes, Owatonna with the Reverend Andrew Vogel officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home.
