Vieno M. Homeier, 94, of Kenyon, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born January 7, 1919 in Stromfield, Canada the daughter of John and Emma (Bykonen) Jackson. Vieno grew up in Canada, and lost both of her parents at a young age, so she and her brother helped raise the rest of the family. She worked for the Canadian Health Department and for B.C, Forest Service. She later moved to Minneapolis to attend the Lutheran Bible Institute and that is where she was introduced to her future husband. She was united in marriage to Howard Homeier on February 3, 1962 in St. Paul, the couple then moved to Kenyon. Vieno was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church where she was involved in Church circles, and Sunday school, she also enjoyed sewing. She is survived by her husband Howard Homeier of Kenyon, son, Kim Homeier (and friend Brenda Lingenfelter) of Kenyon, and three sisters Irene, Edna, and Ellen. She was preceded in death by her parents, and nine brothers and sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Sunday April 28, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at Hauge Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday April 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Hauge Lutheran Church with The Reverend Martin Horn officiating. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon. Memorials are preferred to Hauge Lutheran Church.
