Viola L. Bailey, 90, of Owatonna, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at New Richland Care Center. Viola was born September 4, 1919 in Lemond Township, Minnesota the daughter of Henry and Ida (Enzenauer) Ribbe. She was raised in Lemond Township and there she attended District 76 country school. Viola then went to work for Samuel Lord helping with family and household chores in Owatonna. She was united in marriage to Raymond Bailey on November 10, 1937. They made their home in Lemond Township. Viola worked for a short time at the Owatonna Canning Company and in 1977, Raymond and Viola moved to Owatonna. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and watching children in the church nursery. She was a member of the ladies circle and enjoyed playing card games with her card club and also collecting antiques. She is survived by daughter, Zetty Claire (and David) Nelson of Owatonna; sister in law, Gwen Rasmussen of Owatonna; six grandsons, Doug Nelson (and Lori Jimenez) of Faribault; Brian (and Barb) Nelson of DeWitt, NE; Brad (and Sharon) Nelson of Rochester; Gregg (and Denise) Nelson of Adrian; Craig Bailey (and Lori Stannek) of Ellendale; Steven (and Mary) Bailey of Geneva; 18 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her son, Raymond Bailey Jr., her parents, two brothers, Charles and Ervin Ribbe and three sisters, Evelyn Karaus, Ione Thom and Dorothy Locker. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
