Viola Anna Oeltjenbruns Pittman born June 6, 1927 in Somerset Township passed on Nov. 9, 2015 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
Viola was the daughter of Fred and Emma Oeltjenbruns. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna on July 10, 1927 and her sponsors were Anna Robeolteman and Johnanna Oeltjenbruns. Viola was confirmed June 7, 1942.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth F. Pittman on June 4, 1946. They lived near Bixby on the family farm where they milked cows, raised hogs, ducks, and chickens until 1993. They lived on the farm until they moved into Owatonna in August of 2011.
Viola enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and especially having her family and grandchildren around her. The holidays were always a special time for her to spend with her family with Christmas being her favorite. She had a very strong influence on her children and grandchildren. Viola was a life long member of St John's American Lutheran and strong in her faith.
Viola is survived by two daughters Carol Kubat (Leslie Ash) of Albert Lea; Janice (Timothy) Wenzel of New Richland; four sons, Donald (special friend Patty Kobriger) of Owatonna; Steven (Theresa), of Owatonna; Rodney (Cindy) Pittman of Blooming Prairie; Roger (Erin) of rural Bixby; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Marcella (Alton) Tuttle; Arlene Sahl; and a brother Lester (Betty) Oeltjenbruns; a sister-in-law Rosa Kruckeberg and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Pittman; her parents Fred & Emma Oeltjenbruns; brothers Fredrick; Walter; Milton and Lawrence Oeltjenbruns; a grandson Tyler Pittman and three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
The visitation for Viola will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service in the church. The funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 10:00 am with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Owatonna. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St John Radio Fund, St. John Organ Fund and Homestead Hospice House.
