Violet Rose Beckett-Gessner, 90, of Owatonna, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born January 13, 1922 in Towner, ND the daughter of John and Amanda (Anderson) Schiele. After attending school, she married Ronald Beckett in 1939. They ranched until 1956 when they moved to Minot, ND. While there Violet worked at Newberry''s Department Store and Buttrey's Boutique. She also ran the gift shop at St. Joe's Hospital for a few years. They later divorced. Violet later married Virgil Gessner in 1985 and they moved to Owatonna in 1987. Shortly after their move Virgil passed away. Violet was a member of Our Savior''s Lutheran Church. She bowled on a league once a week. Violet enjoyed reading, flower gardening, game shows, and her Papillon dogs, Little Guy and Sassy. She is survived by daughters, Lori (and Vince) Bakken of Owatonna, Andrea (and Bruce) Dern of Pasadena, CA; son, Barry (and Mollie) Beckett of Newhall, CA; grandchildren, Sheri (and Russell) Beasley, Amanda (and Tony) Baker, Colt Bakken; six great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Schiele of Burlington, ND; sisters, Carol Graves of Rugby, ND, Helen Stucy of Bismark, ND. She was preceded in death by her husbands Ronald Beckett and Virgil Gessner; brother, Ivan Schiele; sisters, Norma Holmes, Mavis Schiele. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home with Ron Giltvedt officiating.
