Violet "Vy" Lila Esther McGuire, 89, of Owatonna, died Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Benedictine Living Community.

She was born October 15, 1933 in Norton Township, Winona County, Minnesota the daughter of Arthur and Clara (Stephans) Nuthak. She graduated from Rollingstone High School, Class of 1951. Vy worked at the Owatonna State School, the old City Hall in Owatonna, Kahler Corporation and Our Home South.

Vy loved working and did so late into her life. When she moved into assisted living, she enjoyed all of the activities offered, card games, attending church and family gatherings. She was a long-time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Owatonna.

She is survived by daughters, Robyn Machacek-Farrag of Owatonna, Kerrie Machacek of Owatonna and Kelli McGuire-Krasin of Waseca; siblings, Carl Nuthak of Walla Walla, WA, Arthur "Stub" Nuthak of Butte, MT and Ruth Ann Nuthak-Keller of Helena, MT; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Clara and son, David Machacek (2019).

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 12-4pm at the V.F.W. in Owatonna.
