Violet B. (Born) Wencl passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2025, at the age of 99. Beloved mom, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, loved aunt and friend.
Violet was born on January 14, 1926 in Good Thunder, MN to Albert and Hazel (Chandler) Born. She attended grade school in Meriden, MN and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1944. She married the love of her life, Raymond Wencl on July 29, 1945 at Meriden Lutheran Church.
Violet worked at Federated Insurance from 1949-1959 and as an 8th grade earth science aide at North Junior High School from1972-1993. She volunteered at her daughter's school, served as a VFW member and was an active member and volunteer at Aurora Lutheran Church and in her community.
Violet loved to garden, bird watch, travel, read, learn and experience new things, and watch the Vikings. She particularly enjoyed the time spent with her family at the cabin up north. She was a high-energy, intelligent, and loving woman who touched the lives of many with her warmth and strength. Violet's legacy of love, kindness, and deep faith will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Violet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond E. Wencl; her parents, Albert and Hazel Born; and her siblings, Hyacinth, Donald, Iris, Lavona, Fern, Lillie, and Stanley. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Robert) O'Neill; grandson, Josh (Angela) O'Neill; granddaughter, Kristen (Karl) Turbenson; four cherished great-granddaughters, Ariana, Kate, Grace, and Claire; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Aurora Lutheran Church on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Visitation at the church one hour prior. Interment following at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Donations in her memory and honor can be made to Aurora Lutheran Church or Minnesota Hospice Foundation in Lakeville, MN.
