Obituary

Violet Zabel, 92, of Kenyon, Minnesota died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Kenyon Sunset Home. Violet was born August 29, 1921 in Goodhue County, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred and Veronica (Abris) Ehrich. She was united in marriage to Arnold Zabel on November 19, 1943 in Dodge Center. Together the couple farmed in Richland Township until retiring and moving to Kenyon. Violet worked at the Kenyon Sunset Home for 25 years. She also worked at the Kenyon Canning Factory. She enjoyed working outside with her flowers and garden. Arnold died in 2001. She is survived by two daughters Julie (and Dave) Quam of Owatonna; Wanda (and Dan) Meger of Gainesville, MO; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Zabel in (2001); two daughters Marilyn Ward and Arlene Jurgensmeier, five sisters Lucille Woodworth; Margaret Denzer; Veronica Keske; Martha Schmoll; Frieda Hessedal; six brothers Christ; Arnold; Ernest; Julius; Albert and a brother at infancy. Visitation will be held at Hauge Lutheran Church on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Hauge Lutheran with The Reverend Martin Horn officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.
