Virginia A. Meier, 88, of Owatonna, died Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. She was born October 10, 1930 in Conway, MO, the daughter of Karl and Avis (Williams) Byers. She graduated from Northwest High School in Lincoln NE and attended college at the University of Nebraska. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gene B. Meier. They had three children and made their home in Chicago, IL. Gene died on August 20, 1999. Virginia moved to her lake home in Waupaca where she loved being surrounded by nature. She liked bird watching, reading, tending to her flower gardens, sewing, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. She later moved to Green Valley, AZ for a short time before moving to Owatonna, to be closer to her family. She is survived by her daughters, Barb Meier and Kathrin Meier Corriveau both of Owatonna; son, John (Susan) Meier of Silk Hope, NC; grandchildren, Drew Corriveau, Paige (Brian) Bullins, Taylor (Brittany) Meier and Jack (Britteny) Meier; brother, Karl (JoAnne) Byers of CA and sister, Deanna (Jon) Schwindt of AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; grandson, Christopher Meier; parents and sister, Sandie Champoux.
