Obituary

Vivian Katherine Quam, 96, of Kenyon, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born August 11, 1912 in St. Charles the daughter of Mark and Stella (Smith) Robinson. Vivian married Melvin J. Quam April 4, 1934 in Mantorville. The couple spent many years in Rochester. She worked for St. Mary's Hospital for several years retiring in 1974. The couple retired to Belle Vista, AK and later to Kenyon in 1986. They enjoyed traveling together, being with family and spending time at their cabin on Lake Alexander. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon. She enjoyed knitting Afghans for family and friends. Family was an important part of Vivian's life. She made sure to have her kids and grandkids over every Christmas Eve and had other traditions such as making lefse that they were a part of. Vivian is survived by daughter, JoAnn Nelson of Inver Grove Heights; son, James 'Bud' (and Roxy) Quam of Alexandria; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; an infant son; son-in-law, Wayne Nelson; sister, Della and brother, Gerald. Visitation will be at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon on Saturday from 10-11am. Funeral services will be held September 20, 2008 at 11:00am at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon with The Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Michaelson Funeral Home Kenyon is handling the funeral arrangements.
