Vivian Muriel Steffen, 101, of West Concord, died Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Homestead Hospice House.
She was born February 4, 1917 in Merton Township the daughter of Peter and Carrie (Anderson) Jensen. Vivian married Walter Steffen February 20, 1935 in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Myrtle. The couple made their home in Merton Township before moving to Emmons where they farmed for 2 years. The couple moved back to the farm on which Vivian was born near West Concord where they lived and farmed together for over 60 years. In addition to farming with her husband, Vivian worked at the canning factories in Owatonna and Kenyon.
Vivian was a member of Moland Lutheran Church and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, fishing, caring for her mother and enjoying her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (and Terry Colton) Steffen of Owatonna, Dannie (and Nancy) Steffen of Nashwauk; daughter, Shari (and John) Arndt of Owatonna; grandchildren, Dagan (and Dawn) Steffen of West Concord, Dallas (and Reann) Steffen of Belle Plaine, Dawn (and Barry) Church of Jordan; great grandchildren, Emily, Isabella and Tyler Steffen, Ava and Molly Church, Madyson, Tristan, Quinton and Easton Steffen and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Moland Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
