Vivian M. Ullevig, 96, of Kenyon, died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Kenyon Sunset Home. Vivian Marlyn Banks was born July 23, 1921 in Goodhue County, Kenyon, Minnesota the daughter of Julius and Inger (Monson) Banks. She was baptized and confirmed at Dale Lutheran Church rural Kenyon. She attended Country School #108. On November 22, 1944, she was united in marriage to Merlyn O. Ullevig in Minneapolis by Reverend Stormo. They were married for 53 years. Merlyn passed away May 17, 1997. Vivian was a beautician, clerk at J.C. Penny, clerk at Flicks Super Market for eight years and a clerk at Fairway Foods in Kenyon for 23 years. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon since 1944, member of FLCW, served on the church council and was involved with the visitation ministry for many years. She was also a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary #141 and served as president, a member of the Wagon Wheel Square Dance Club, volunteered with the Kenyon Bloodmobile for many years and was a volunteer bingo worker for Kenyon Sunset Home. She enjoyed making greeting cards, playing scrabble with her friend Jean Overby, visiting with close friend Maurine Olson, playing cards, embroidery work, had a collection of dolls and loved pansies. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Sharon (Tom) Taylor of Lakewood, CO, Cindi (Curt) Roe of Eagan, Melody (Randy) Finley of Dodge Center, Wayne (Ida) Banks of Rochester, Martha Banks of Kasson; great nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Inger; husband, Merlyn O. Ullevig; brothers LuVerne and Alden Banks; nephews, Larry, James, Gary and Sheldon Banks and sister-in-law, Della Banks. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon with Reverend Christopher Miller officiating. Visitation will be at church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
