Obituary

Wallace (Wally) Francis Caron, 70, of Kenyon, died Thursday, December 25, 2025, at his home due to a farm accident.

He was born September 7, 1955, in Faribault, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Helen (Sanborn) Caron. Wally attended school in Kenyon before joining the United States Army and completing his high school education. Serving in the Army from 1972 to 1975, Wally was a mechanic and helped with transferring supplies for military training. He met Rochelle Wille, and they were united in marriage on September 15, 1979, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Faribault. Wally worked at the Kenyon and Owatonna Canning Company, and then ultimately started his own trucking business, Caron Enterprises. He and Rochelle would create lawn ornaments out of landscape timbers ranging from a semi, combine, skid steer for their daughter and even a school bus that is on display at Held Bus Service in Kenyon.

Wally cherished building lego sets and forts with his grandkids, one so big the girls said "We can't take it down, Grandpa made it!" Another big tradition for Wally was showing his granddaughters how to make his childhood donuts. He was always building or making something but loved to include his family in helping. A favorite pastime for Wally was riding snowmobiles; he even drove around Lake Superior for a total of 1,683 miles. He spent endless hours helping Kenyon Snowdrifters Club put up trails and groom them for all riders. He was a Snowmobile Safety Instructor and set up his own course for young riders to take the riding portion of the exam. He would sit in his chair at night and admire the amount of riders coming over the hill not far away. When Wally had free mornings he spent them at the coffee shop, previously named Knowledge Bowl, to enjoy not only a cup of coffee but the local stories of the happenings around town.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rochelle Caron; daughter, Jessica Caron (fiancé Troy Mattson), granddaughters, Taya and Jade Mattson; siblings Francis (Joan) Caron, Sharon Fleming, Nadine (Gary) Thielbar, Marlys Vierling, Linda Johnson, Larry (Rita) Caron, Michael Caron, Nita Kerl (special friend Dave), and Perry (Kathy) Caron; sister-in-law, Berdell Berquam; niece, Beth (Dale); brother-in-law Richard (Linda); nieces Shauna (Chad); Valerie (Chad); Michelle (Tim); brother-in-law, Steven Wille and countless nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen and mother and father-in-law Lyle and Helen Wille; brothers-in-law Allen Berquam, and Harold Johnson; sister-in-law Mary Wille.

Services to be held at a later date.
